Need of Tenant Registration for Police Verification
After the intense terror activities in Pakistan especially in Punjab which is the biggest province of Pakistan. The province of Punjab has passed a law “THE PUNJAB INFORMATION OF TEMPORARY RESIDENTS ACT 2015”. This law has made it obligatory that whenever a room or property is rented the owner/tenant/property dealer must register the details of property, tenant, and owner in the concerned police station.
There are two methods that a tenant can choose for police verification i.e. visit a concerned police station or police Khidmat Markaz. Once the police duly verify tenant it will issue a certificate. This document will help the citizen to avoid unnecessary hassle during the search operation.
How to Register Rented House or Property in Police station
The process of Punjab police tenant registration is very simple.
Required Document for Police Verification
- Original and copy of house owner’s CNIC
- Original and copy of tenant’s CNIC
- Original and copy of rent agreement
- Affidavit on Stamp Paper Rs50
- Photograph of the tenant
- Make 2 extra sets of above-mentioned documents
Download the Tenant Registration Form
Once you have a tenancy agreement or Karaya Dari nama printed on the stamp paper along with the affidavit. Then you need to police verification form. Get a print of this form and fill all the particulars.
Processing Fee
There is no processing fee for tenant verification form. If the police station demands an illegal fee for tenant registration then you can file a complaint here.
Online Tenant Registration
Once you submit documents in your concerned police station. Then will enter particular of tenant verification form online and within 15 to 20 minutes return the attested copy of karaya dari form to the tenant.
The original documents will be returned to the owner of the rented property and another copy will be retained in the police station.
What if Tenant vacate property?
If due to any reason tenant decides to vacate the rented property he has to visit the police station where he registered his karaya dari nama and get canceled his tenant registration.
Once tenant get NOC, he has to follow the same procedure of police verification.
How to Online Register Tenant in the Islamabad
In 2017 the Islamabad police initiated an online tenant verification process. At that time you can visit islamabadpolice.gov.pk/tnt/ visit their verification page. This was a simple process but it’s not available right now.
Currently, this process is done manually. Simply visit the public facilitation center located at F-6/1 Islamabad or nearest Model Police Stations Ramna, Aabpara, Shalimar, Kohsar, Secretariat, I-9, Margalla.
You will need these documents to successfully complete tenant registration.

- Owner Original and copy of CNIC.
- Passport size Photograph of Owner and Tenant.
- Copy of Rent Agreement in the affidavit.
- Original Rent Agreement must show.
- Other concerned documents if required.

- Property Dealer and Tenant must be present.

If the owner is far away then either the property agent or the tenant can complete this procedure. However, the owner has to sign the form and the remaining documents are the same.
If a tenant doesn’t submit the required documents of rent registration fees then would it be considered that the landlord of property is also involved in it? If a tenant shows intention to get a portion for family requirement but runs the illegal activities like brothle, drugs supply or any other illegal activity then, what should the other tenant do for his safety living in the same proprty in other portion?
