How To Get Union Council Birth Certificate In Pakistan

The process of union council birth certificate is a mandatory requirement under Pakistan law. Acquiring a birth certificate is a fundamental right of every child recognized by national as well as international law.

For that union council, a birth certificate is the first step after which NADRA issues a child registration certificate (CRC). And then on the basis of the NADRA birth form, one is able to get CNIC.

Cantonments Act 1924, deals with the birth registration of children born in the cantonment area.

What is a Birth Certificate?

A birth certificate is a legal document. This certificate is a valid acceptable proof of a person’s birth in Pakistan. This document also determines the parentage, date of birth, place of birth of the minor.

Who Can File Application For Birth Certificate At Union Council?

The first priority is given to the child’s parents, they have to personally appear before the union council office while giving applying for a union council birth certificate.

If parents are outside the country or dead then the first blood relative can apply for birth registration. But they have to provide a certified copy of the Court’s guardian certificate and death certificate (if parents are dead). In cases where a child has been adopted, a Court Guardian Certificate will also be required.

In Punjab the fee for getting a union council birth certificate is Rs. 200/-. But those who live in Islamabad capital territory the fee of childbirth registration depends upon delay in application.

If the application of Childbirth registration is given to CDA immediately it Rs.50, after one year fee is Rs.60, after 5 years the birth registration fee is Rs.630.

Process of Getting Union Council Birth Certificate

If you or your child don’t have a union council birth certificate then you should immediately approach your concerned union council.

While applying for a childbirth certificate from the union council you should visit their office and get the application form from.

Late Entry Procedure for Union Council Birth Certificate

The applicant has to submit application of reason that delay occurred. Along with this application one affidavit and hospital birth slip or where the child is studying in school then school certificate or card of child vaccination is submitted to the chairman or vice-chairman only.

One certificate from the councilor or Lambardar attesting the birth of a child is also required.

After verification of birth detail, the secretary union council will enter the date of birth within 5 days.

Delay is more than 7 years

Where the delay is more than 7 years then again documents that need to attach will remain the same. But this time within 7 days the secretary union council will forward these documents to the assistant commissioner. After confirmation from the Assistant commissioner office entry will be made within 7 days.

During that procedure, the applicant will be asked to consult the medical superintendent in the district headquarter hospital. He will examine the child to determine his age. That superintendent will submit his report to the chairman or vice-chairman. And upon chairman order secretary will enter the date of birth in the union council.

How Overseas Pakistan Can Get Union Council Child Birth

Those who are living abroad can within 180 days reach the Pakistani consulate to register their childbirth in the union council. A form S will be provided to those applicants. Fill it and then your consulate will send a report to the concerned union council.

  2. Salaam, I am foreigner and 52 and born in karachi but i have misplaced my birth certificate. I only know the name of the clinic i was born in. So can union council help get my birth certificate?

    • If you have a photocopy of the birth certificate then you can get the certified copy from UC. On the contrary, you have to file afresh and should appear before the relevant UC.

  3. My birth certificate was made in 2014 it had my registration date 3 months and 7 days after my birth date of November 1985. It had a status of normal entry. In 2020 i needed my birth certificate again but I forgot i had an old one. My father issued a new copy from UC.
    Deutsch embassy has now raised objection on my BC that is Your birth certificate is based on a re-certification of the birth that was not carried out in the correct procedure. You will be asked to make up for the notarization in a lawful process and then to submit a new application.

  5. My husband and I are in the UK but his father doesn’t have his birth certificate or any hospital records. We do have his NICOP card and his father’s NICOP card along with my husband’s old, expired Pakistani passports. I don’t know which Union Council to contact in Karachi. I can see websites such as mamoo in Pakistan, birthcertificatesPakistan.com but don’t know if they are legitimate or fake. What is the quickest way as I need it for immigration purposes?

    • you can apply through an attorney in that union council where your husband or his father lived when they were in Pakistan. You can send your or his relative to visit union council

    First of all many thanks for these all valuable comments and responses. Sir I need your assistance and guidance for Birth certificate. My spouse was born in 1990 in Rawalpindi and currently they are living in Bahria Town since 2010. We get her birth certificate with status as noraml , but the address mentioned in the birth certificate is Bahria Town as That time Bahria was not in the map.

    So please guide us about adress, please. Should we change adress to her old address (address at the time of Birth) or it is fine to keep the current address on birth certificate. We need this for EU family reunion visa.
